Beyonce's Oscar Nipple

Beyonce's Oscar performance with Hugh Jackman was a broad, family-friendly tribute to the musical. But, she had a split second moment of nudity thanks to a bit of a wardrobe malfunction. Spotted by egotastic is a quick nipple slip that a lot of people might have missed - well now you can see it, yes the nipple, it!Below, Getty image from her performance courtesy of www.huffingtonpost.com

Oscar Fashion High Notes!

Jennifer Aniston, part because she looked just stunning and part because she wasn't wearing black/navy which is where's been recently. This pearly white Valentino Couture was stunning on her - i included the runway shot so you can see the detail at the bottom, that you cannot see from Jen's picture. The dress has delightful movement effects.
Anne Hathaway, Armani Privé looks absolutely divine, it was simple, almost understated, but with some blinging detail over the chest area. Again this dress had great movement effects, that made the dress sparkle even more. A great come back from a person who's also been orbiting a slightly awkward space recently. Delightful.
Sarah Jessica Parker wore another version of the silver dress she wore to the New York launch of Sex And The City, the movie. This time was a bridal Dior Couture gown that was all whimsical and virginal with a slightly less innocent décolletage design.
Though some might argue Evan Rachel Wood looks rather wahed out in this gorgeous Elie Saab Couture gown, i think she still looks amazing. i loved her dress and thought it gave her such a decorous air, very demure - her aura kills me.

China furious over YSL art sale

Paris - Mystery bidders paid millions of dollars for a pair of ancient Chinese bronzes at the record-smashing Yves Saint Laurent art auction in Paris, sparking angry protests from China on Thursday.

The precious Qing dynasty fountainheads, looted from the imperial Summer Palace by British and French troops in 1860, were snapped up for €15.7m (R199.3m) each on Wednesday.

The sale came at the end of a three-day auction of gems that graced the homes of Saint Laurent and his partner Pierre Berge that fetched a total of €373.5m(R4,745.71m), making it the biggest private art sale in history.

But Beijing immediately lashed out at Christie's for selling the bronze rat and rabbit heads, vowing to place tougher checks on the auction house as it accused it of repeatedly selling smuggled Chinese relics.

"In recent years, Christie's has frequently sold cultural heritage items looted or smuggled from China, and all items involved were illegally taken out of the country," the State Administration of Cultural Heritage said.

Hurt the feelings of China's people

In another statement, the agency said the auction had "harmed the cultural rights and hurt the feelings of China's people and will seriously impact (Christie's) development in China".

China had demanded the relics returned, but the French government said it had received no official request, and a Paris court threw out a last-ditch bid to remove the bronzes from the sale.

"The State Administration of Cultural Heritage resolutely opposes and condemns all auctions of artefacts illegally taken abroad. Christie's must take responsibility for the consequences created by this auction," the agency said.

The agency said it did not recognise the objects' "illegal owners" and warned it would use all "necessary channels to recover all relics stolen and illegally exported throughout history".

AFP calls to Christie's offices in China went unanswered on Thursday.

The 18th-century bronzes went on the block along with more than 700 other treasures including Roman marbles and Egyptian antiquities 2 000 years old collected over five decades by the late fashion designer and his partner.

They were among the last items to go under the hammer at a sale that defied the credit crunch, smashing 25 records as buyers sent prices for contemporary art, old masters, antique silver and Art Deco gems through the roof.

Proceeds to fight Aids

Bids poured in throughout the sale from 1 200 well-heeled seated buyers who flew in from around the world, as well as collectors bidding through 100 telephone operators.

A business tycoon, arts patron and committed left-winger, Berge opted to sell the collection amassed over a lifetime after Saint Laurent's death last June aged 71.

Berge is offering the proceeds to fight Aids and to a foundation honouring Saint Laurent's work.

"I am very happy tonight. I am certain that all those who acquired these works of art will cherish them," Berge told reporters.

"If I had had the money I would've built a museum," he added. "I always believed art belonged to no one, and that these works were with us in transit though we were very, very lucky to live with them."

"The time had come to separate from them."

Harm relations

Neither he nor auctioneers Christie's agreed to identify the buyers of the Chinese pieces or even state whether both were acquired by the same person.

Groups of Chinese students handed out leaflets condemning the sale of the prized relics outside the vast Grand Palais exhibition hall where the auction took place.

Shortly after their sale, Liu Yang, a Chinese lawyer who spearheaded efforts to have the pieces returned to Beijing, warned that the failure to return them would not soothe Franco-Chinese ties, frayed over the sensitive issue of Tibet.

"I will not comment on diplomatic relations," he said. "But it will certainly harm relations between the peoples of both countries."

Turkish Airline Crashes in Amsterdam Airport

Schipol Airport in Amsterdam, Netherlands just experienced a tragic event. A plane, Turkish Airline, just crashed trying to land :-( No news of how many injuries :-(

I cant help but be worried, i might be going to Amsterdam soon - but then again i'm not flying with the Turks - as much as i like them ;-)

UPDATE:

At least nine people were killed today when a Turkish Airlines plane crashed into a field as it came in to land at Amsterdam's Schiphol airport, breaking into three sections on impact.

Among these who died were the three flight crew, whose bodies remained on the stricken plane, officials said. A total of 80 people had been taken to 11 hospitals around the region, a medical official told a press conference. Six of these were very critically hurt and it was not known whether they would survive. Five others were seriously hurt, she said.

The mayor of the municipality, Michel Bezuijen, said the Boeing 737-800, believed to be carrying 135 passengers and crew, crash landed at 10.31am (9.31am GMT). "We cannot say anything about the cause at the moment," Bezuijen told reporters . "The priority of the authorities is providing assistance and care."

Dilemma: New York or Euro Trip?

I have a problem, some might not see it as a problem, but then again they are not me.

I have to go on holiday around the beginning of June, note how i have to, its true - there is no way i can survive work for 6 straight months without any holiday, i can barely get through a week without wishing for better days, read; holiday overseas!

Currently i sorta have 3 options that can be turned into 2 options, there goes.

1. I can go to Malta, visit a friend and get to see the little enchanting island no ones seems to know much about, you'd swear it wasnt part of the EU its so forgotten.

2. Some sort of Euro trip with several friends, basically a close friend of mine has recently relocated to London, ask him why - and i'd like to go visit him and get a better feel of London, for a few days. Two friends of mine from back in Cape Town, one of which has just moved to Nairobi would be with me. Then we'd all be off to Amsterdam, which i love, fell in love with it last year (2008 April/May) when i went to visit now my ex, and i wanna share it with three of my best friends, we'd be there for a few days for my ex's birthday, then after (the group keeps getting bigger) we'd all go to Paris, again a city i absolutely adore, spent almost a month there during dec/jan 2008 and cant wait to see it again and share it with my friends, i quite like France, even the south, when i went to the French Riviera & Monaco last year, 2008 Sept/Oct i knew i had to return soon, especially Monaco anyway - with better planning i could include Malta as part of this option as well, oh well... we'll see.

3. The final option is New York, i've never been to New York, i have a great sense i'd love it - why now, one of my dearest friends is moving to New York, he fell in love with it, during his many travels to the Big Apple some years back and is now going to live there, but also at the same time one of my best friends, who lives in Switzerland, who i went to visit last year after my afore mention French Riviera holiday with the friend of mine who's just moved to Nairobi, went to Geneva, Zurich, Zug, Lugano, Basel, Bern & Lucern, breathe, he'll be working in New York for a few months and thought it'd be great to use this one opportunity where they will both be in NY at the same time to go visit.

But now i can only afford one trip, either New York or The Euro Trip? Both have major pros & a few cons...what to do, what to do...

South African Politics: COPE's Mvume Dandala decision 'unanimous'

Johannesburg - The decision to nominate Reverend Mvume Dandala as the Congress of the People's presidential candidate was a unanimous decision after "long and hard" discussions within the party, he said on Tuesday.

"The principle of Cope is that Cope will always try and find people it believes are suitable to do a particular job at any single time," he told SABC radio.

"I was approached, this was discussed long and hard within Cope, and, as we saw, at the meeting of the national committee, there was a unanimous view that this request should be put to me to be the presidential candidate.

"I think people need to realise that equating the president of the party with the presidential candidate is something that, in other countries, is accepted," added Dandala.

Congress of the People leader Mosiuoa Lekota on Monday officially announced that Dandala would be the party's presidential candidate, denying reports of in-fighting.

Botman denies premier nomination

Meanwhile, news reports on Tuesday morning suggested that the rector of the University of Stellenbosch, Russel Botman, had declined a nomination by Cope to be its Western Cape premier candidate.

Last week, Reverend Frank Chikane, director general in the presidency, declined a Cope nomination for Gauteng premier.

Lekota, a former ANC veteran, started Cope after public disagreements with the ruling African National Congress, partly over its decision in September last year to recall former president Thabo Mbeki from office.

Sand Bay, Llandudno, Cape Town

Ok yes, I went to Sandy Bay on Wednesday over my lunch hour...
why? It looked like a beautiful sunny Cape Town day and i decided where would be picturesque and deserted on a week day, boy was i wrong, anyway thats beside the point. It was as beautiful as i expected and i took these pics....i'm not a genius with the camera, i just point and click, even though i love photography, i know i'm not good at it... but i hope i managed to capture a fraction of the beauty that is Sandy Bay (before the beach part, i would have looked like a heinous perv had i gone that far in my suit, carrying my shoes amongst all the naked folks soaking up some sun)

Note: Sandy Bay is a nude beach!!! Very mixed, both heterosexuals and homosexuals enjoy their exhibitionistic (& voyeur) tanning & it's also quite safe.

Cape Town Theatre

Cape Tonians love the theatre, but they hardly ever go, much like the Parisians, where a show needs to be 'très digne', Cape Tonians will only bother with a show or performance that 'is worth checking out', a Captonian has a very decorous way about choosing what to do. Anyway if you fancy going to the theatre, this weekend or in the near future, here are some of the main shows of the moment :-)

Sophomore

'Ello,

There you have it, i think now i can call myself a true blogger - this is my 2nd post, no longer a blogging virgin...

Now i still dont quite know exactly which direction this blog will be taking but i'm thinking it should be a mix bag of all current affairs, 'current affairs' being umbrella term for 'i have no clue, but i'll just feed you whatever sh*t comes my way'...
PS: I'm really hoping this blog has the capacity to edit out my 'colourful' words!

Ok so now that i've given you the synopsis, wait for anything to come...anything.

I just started a blog - i know not why yet, but i'll figure it out

Well, well, well here i am with a blog that needs direction.....well i'll let the idea stew for a while longer, maybe something will come up.....

.....

...

still nothing!

Ok i'll go with what i'm thinking right now - right this very moment, i hate the fact that there are such few websites in Cape Town that bring you the latest on various up coming events and reviews on past events, i mean Cape Town's awesome and no one gets to document that awesomeness.... if you'll allow me, i'll attempt to do just this, should be interesting juggling a 9 hour work day and finding time to track down the latest happenings of the Mother City, ag, should be alright but if its not then i'll just fill the pages with the latest gossip & trivia from all around the world.

Till next time....i've got nothing new for now!
