Restaurant Of The Day: Societi Bistro

Last night i had the pleasure to dine with a friend at the new Societi Bistro in Gardens, Cape Town. The new location with views of Table Mountain is unbeatable, the inside has a rustic feel with naked brick walls, the outside section is what i fell in love with the most, it reminded me of the restaurant La Colombe d'Or aux portes de Saint Paul de Vance, situted in the Provence area of the South of France. Last night was a particularly magical night to be dining outside, it was warm, but not too warm and not windy at all. The food was sublime, I had their signature Fillet Steak Au Poivre with Madagascan green peppercorns, brandy, cream sauce, wilted spinach & frites, and it was one of the best steaks i've ever had, ever. For dessert we both wanted to try the Parisian Chocolate Truffle Cake purely just from our love of chocolate and all things Parisian, but we ended up getting the Baked Cheese Cake as well, and i'm not a big cheese cake fan, ordinarily, but just this once 'cheese' trumped 'chocolate' - we didnt even finish the chocolate truffle cake.
The service was attentive, familiar & professional. The whole evening was just delightful - I can't wait to go back there again.
