Shoe Dilemma: Black or White All Star Chuck Taylors?

I've been wanting to get myself a pair these classic sneakers, Converse's All Star Chuck Taylors, now i'm very close to making the decision, and I'm faced with a creative decision, its one of the most critical decisions when you're doing anything but curing cancer, the COLOUR. What colour must i get? I'm not adventurous, not keen on anything flamboyant and kitsch, i'm a man of basics, black or white - being South African this is always a slightly loaded decision, thankfully this is not half as sensitive - I just need help figuring out what colour boot-ed All Star sneakers to buy.

Chuck Taylor All-Stars are canvas and rubber shoes produced by Converse. They were first produced in 1908 as the "All-Star", Converse's attempt to capture the basketball shoe market. They were not particularly popular until basketball player Chuck Taylor adopted them as his preferred shoe. He was so impressed with the design that he became the shoe's leading salesman. After proposing a few changes to the shoe, the shoe got its current name and Chuck Taylor's signature on its ankle patch.

  1. I'm drawn to dark colours...naturally, but when it come to shoes; white just hypnotizes me. Being a sneakers's person I can tell you one thing - white works with most outfits. Problem is, it needs to be maintained!! There's no greater turn-off than a pair of dirty white sneakers.......well, maybe I'm just a neat-freak!!

In your case though, I think you should go for the black ones...besides the fact that they are a lot nicer (in my opinion), the white ones will make you look like a 'pantsula'!!!
