Song Of The Day: James Morrison Featuring Nelly Furtado - Broken Strings

I love music - i hear it all the time, it plays through my head whenever and whatever I'm doing, and this morning i heard a song, heard it first time last week - just this morning i had a moment to listen to it, give it its moment and fully get it because it played the moment i woke up. I was still in bed, eyes closed and it started...though the song is actually gut wrenching, well to a degree, it was just what i needed to wake up to, a beatiful tune, with a great melody & simple vocals that though melancholic made me warm & fuzzy and immidiately decided it was a good song i.e soundtrack to my day today - i've been listening to it the whole morning, when i'm not, i hear it in my head. Today's Song Of The Day is the stripped down love ballad, Broken Strings by James Morrison featuring Nelly Furtado. I love that he's pretty much center of the song, and she sort of plays off him in a subtle yet very effective way, had she not been there, the song would have still been beautiful but certainly not as haunting.

==========LYRICS============
Let me hold you - For the last time!
It's the last chance to feel again
But you broke me, now I can't feel anything
When I love you, It's so untrue - I can't even convince myself
When I'm speaking, it's the voice of someone else..

Oh it tears me up - I try to hold on, but it hurts too much
I try to forgive, but it's not enough to make it all okay
You can't play on broken strings
You can't feel anything that your heart don't want to feel
I can't tell you something that ain't real
Oh the truth hurts - and lies worse
How can I give anymore, when I love you a little less than before?

Oh what are we doing - we are turning into dust
Playing house in the ruins of us...
Running back through the fire - when there's nothing left to save
It's like chasing the very last train when it's too late, too late

Let me hold you for the last time - it's the last chance to feel again

  1. Definately a great tune...

James Morrison delivers yet again with great light and shade in his voice tone. Combined with the ever fabulous Nelly Furtado!

Most music critics applaud this unusual, and unforeseen, combination of music talent!

    Looking forward to more 'blogtunes'!
